ONE also calls for debt cancellation, trade reform and anti–corruption measures in a comprehensive package to help Africa and the poorest nations beat AIDS and extreme poverty.

Episcopalians for Global Reconciliation  The Episcopal Church and the Millennium Development Goals—Feel the power of "What One Can Do"

In September 2001, within days of the terrorist attacks in the U.S., the House of Bishops of the Episcopal Church met to consider the effects of globalization, identified in 1998 as a critical issue for the Anglican Communion.

In January 2003, a core group of bishops and presenters from this meeting re-convened with a inter-generational group of clergy and lay leaders to live into their shared commitment to "wage global reconciliation." This gathering , remembering that the Episcopal Church had played a leading role in the civil rights, nuclear disarmament and debt relief movements, invited today's Church to live into a leadership role in the global pursuit of justice and peace.

They chose the Millennium Development Goals (MDGs) to focus their action, and committed financial support of 0.7% of their personal budgets towards these goals as a central organizing action.

A growing community of mobilization developed around this core. In June 2003 they were key instigators of the the Presiding Bishop's Forum on gGlobal reconciliation at General Convention in Minneapolis and sponsors of  a resolution requiring dioceses to report on their progress towards 0.7% giving.

Today, Episcopalians for Global Reconciliation is an emerging network of lay and ordained economists, business people, students, social organizers, theologians, attorneys, labor activists, and advocates.
